Chapter overview

Customers and phone

Note: the DevyPOS interface is currently available in German and English. Screen labels quoted here are the English ones.

On the phone every second counts. DevyPOS recognises the number and puts the customer in front of you before you have finished saying “good evening”.

1. The call

When the phone rings, Incoming call appears with the number and – if known – name, address and the number of previous orders. From there you go straight into taking the order.

If the number is unknown, Delivery leads directly into address entry.

2. Call list

Under Calls you find today’s calls, including missed ones. When the phone rings three times at once, you can call back from here in peace.

3. Capturing the address

  1. Enter name and phone number.
  2. Start typing the street – the street directory suggests matching streets, even from partial words.
  3. Add the house number; postcode and town fill in by themselves.

If the postcode lies outside your zones, the till reports: this postcode is not in the delivery area. You can then continue the order as a collection.

4. Avoiding duplicate customers

While you type the name, the till asks: ordered before? Possible matches – tap to use. One tap adopts the existing customer and attaches the new phone number to them. That way one family does not end up with three records.

5. Customer groups

In the back office under Customers you create groups – such as regulars or company customers – with a discount rate and the option no delivery fee. The discount applies to the goods value and takes effect automatically as soon as the customer is attached to the order.

6. Consent and information

On the customer record you note whether they want to receive advertising by phone, post or email. There is a separate button in the customer header for information and deletion under the GDPR.

How the till learns about the call is set under Settings → Caller ID: either through the call monitor of a Fritzbox or through a dedicated SIP extension of your phone system. The connection is always established by the connector in the venue – your phone system does not have to be reachable from the internet.

This chapter describes DevyPOS in its current version. Individual views may differ in your business because features are enabled per venue.
